Yippikya was founded in September 2006 by entrepreneur, John Reger, as a way to branch his business success onto the internet. The founding team consisted of John Reger, Matthew Patten, Charles Robert, Jennifer Kim, Andrew Nurcahya, Michael White, and Tom Duke, along with a small team of programmers.

Prior to its beta launch, Yippikya was in development for over eight months. During this time, Yippikya employees invited friends and family to test the website. Many of the concepts and features were developed during this time.

On June 27th, 2007, Yippikya hosted an event at Rich’s Nightclub in Houston, Texas in celebration of its beta launch. The event featured yet-to-be discovered artists, including fashion designers, musical performers, painters, models, DJs, photographers, jewelers, and cinematographers. The artists’ clothing, artwork, music, and jewelry were for sale at the party; further embracing Yippikya’s theme of “Meet Friends, Make Money, and Get Discovered”.

Officially launched on September 1st, 2007, Yippikya now has more than fifty representatives around the globe, including about thirty Houston-area associates.
