The Scene
A boisterous group of 30- and 40-something singles crowd at the first floor bar. The sprawling dining room on the second level balcony feels busy with rich woods, fabrics and patterns, punctuated by the rush of servers delivering back-to-back courses to expense accounters, dates and curious tourists.
The Food
Sate the appetite with plump edamame while perusing the multi-sectioned menu. Of the cold dishes, the flavors of thinly sliced yellowtail sashimi, jalepeno and cilantro converge for a sublime meld, and while the toro tartar tastes regally of chopped tuna belly, its caviar topping gets lost in the wasabi-laced broth. Signature black cod with miso is a must--if only for bragging rights about your brush with the silky, brightly sweetened fish. The tiny oyster "tacos" with shreds of filo wrapped in lettuce go down with ease. Skip the unremarkable sushi and rolls for a sweet bento-box ending of chocolate cake and green tea ice cream
